Here's the lyrics ..the song is open to your own interpretation Wink Peace
"Delightful Despair"
Follow your dreams, look to the light
don't let your goals, slip out of sight
be a good soul, along the way
never be still, when there's so much to say
Rise up! Take a stand!
there are so many things that you should demand
you have the whole world beneath your feet
there are forces of darkness for you to defeat
Lay your cards upon the table, that's the proof that you are stable
Think of what Cain did to Abel, realize it's just a fable
Have some Tea and you'll feel better, go and write yourself a letter
You will surely win the pot, just show the player's what you've got
There is no wind, so you can't fly a kite
go and find a cause for which to fight
take swift action, that would surely be right
become a real soldier, or a noble knight
Read a book and you'll feel better, go and write yourself a letter
you look good in your new sweater, you could be a real go getter
plot a path of least resistance, you will never need assistance
though there's darkness all around you, you will find the strength to pull through
OH! OH! I just want to pull out my hair
Oh Oh it's such a delightful despair
Follow your dreams, look to the light
don't let your goals, slip out of sight
be a good soul, along the way
never be still, when there's so much to say
OH! OH! I just want to pull out my hair
Oh Oh it's such a delightful despair
Find a place of equal balance, be prepared to meet resistance
Never feel your all alone, just find a point and drive it home
Have some Tea and you'll feel better, write yourself a cryptic letter
though there is darkness all around you,you will find the strength to pull through
Oh oh it's such a delightful despair
Follow your dreams, look to the light
don't let your goals, slip out of sight ~lead~
Find a place of equal balance, be prepared to meet resistance
Never feel your all alone, just find a point and drive it home
Have some Tea and you'll feel better, write yourself a cryptic letter
though there is darkness all around you,you will find the strength to pull through
OH! OH! I just want to pull out my hair
Oh Oh it's such a delightful despair
Follow your dreams, look to the light
don't let your goals, slip out of sight
be a good soul, along the way
never be still, when there's so much to say .....so much to say Shhhh

Definately going in the right direction but I would still raise them in the verses. Chorus is much better now for clarity and vocal volume!

48 seconds still reminds me of The Sparks Lay your cards upon the table, that's the proof that you are stable....

That sounds much better I agree with Nosmoking on raising the volume on the vocals in the verses of the song where they aren't as prominent as the rest. What a fantastic song Gene, this was well worth the wait What a killer track

Oooh I love U all but this will be the
final mix of this collab The vocals
in the verses were designed to match the
guitar melody exactly, but since I've upped
the volume on the vocals in this mix I can
barely hear the guitar notes,so in order
to avoid a dilemma I'll just leave it as is and move on to the next project~I appreciate everyone being interested enough to suggest changes to improve this song and all UR points are well taken love U guys

I think this little adjustment makes a world of difference... you don't lose any of the ethereal quality created by synchronizing the words with the guitar, but they are easier to understand. It would change the flavor of the track too much if they were much louder in the mix. Good judgment, Gene.

I see that you've stated that this is the final mix, but since you asked me to check it out again....I'm still gonna give my opinion.
If you think that by raising the vocals it will 'cover-up' the guitar part, you're right and wrong. Sure simply increasing the volume can do that, but what you also might be forgetting is that if you can isolate certain EQ frequencies on the vocal track that you can increase the volume without it affecting the separation and clarity of other tracks. It takes practice and tinkering, but it can be learned. You could unknowingly be 'stacking' the same equalization on the vocals with a similar equalization on the guitar. Play with the EQ on one or the other or even both to attempt better separation. I do think that the volume on the vocals on this track does need to be increased by this method. If you decide not to do that, I completely understand. I'm exactly the same way regarding advice. Sometimes I listen, sometimes I don't. And, I'm always looking ahead to the next project as well. But, this tune really deserves to have the vocals shine. It has a killer groove and a fantastic vocal melody line. Anyway, that's my opinion.
Rock on.....hehe

Nice tune, like the upbeat drums
This reminds me a bit of a Zappa tune Ive heard. The vocals could be clearer in parts but i see you have the lyrics up. Guitar is nice too.
Great collab!

I really like the intro...the way the vox and guitar align with each other and setting up the theme with "that" riff ...
....... ..more vox please ........
It could be my monitoring system, the low freq's being heavy demand that the upper freq stuff compete. The snare to me is the point of referance in this tune ,sounds right...
I really like this tune..great arrangement...

The arrengement on this song kicks a$$.The vocals are ace.The only two things I would change would be to normalize the vocal part at the .50 sec mark through out the song (that part gets buried, and I feel that is a awesome hook). The second thing is a matter of preference and is regarding the open High hat sound.Maybe switching from open to close hats would enhance the dynamics as the songs moves from part to part.Other than that the production is real good.Great song guys!

I love it..as everyone's said before me it kicks azz.. I'd still up the volumn of the vocals if you can, because I can hear them fine, but I love the harmonizing so much that I want to hear it march with the guitar. But I know you have them this way for artistic reasons. You are simply outstanding Gene. Im honored to listen to your work.

Yeah! Some Zappa, BOC and Uriah Heep influenced sounds in here. Great, great instrumental tracks and production on this, but the vocals need more of a Scorpions production sound I think. They're a little muffled sounding and in conflict at times, and really need to be soaring in the final product. I'd love to play with this mix !!!

Cool song. Great riffs and guitar work.
The lyrics and music interplay together well too.
Nice atmosphere in some parts when it lightens up.
Really like the production too. Some tight sounding guitars and drums
Great stuff

This has a really cool early Genesis vibe...the quasiClassical arrangement, the lyrical bent, even the vocal tone brings to mind Peter Gabriel in spots (or in Elizabethan garb, or in space alien silver lamé, or...), especially the quiet bits with the Steve Hackettish guitar backing it.

I'm on my third listen now because there's something about this song that takes me back to somewhere that I just can't place. To hell with it, I've been trying all day so it ain't gonna happen.
I like the deep heavy bass/guitar contrasting the slightly thin vocals. Something tells me that it shouldn't quite work, but it does! Similarly, [on my 4th listen now] the melody is at the same time both poppy and yet slightly weird. Somehow it all adds up to this track having a charm all of its own.
I like it.
