This reminds of this local band that I use to go see periodically back when I used to go 'clubbing'. We would enter the club dressed very nice and by the time we left we were covered with sweat because of all the time we'd spent on the dance floor.
Very very nice rhythm. Everything meshing nicely in this.
Cool vocals too!

Enjoyed this tune! Well all you have to do is say Funk and I am there...
Good grove, sounded very late 70's to me (love that era). Liked the live sound then the end that made it appear to be performed live! Nice touch!
Nice collab!

Hello all you wonderful DMers
thanx for reviewing this fabulous fictional funk band song..The FFFB was
created to bring any artist into the fold
who has an interest in funk music
so if UR interested get UR funky tracks
together and dnote me
here's the lyrics!
"ROCK THE FUNK"
We had a rag tag band, playin in the street
We were workin hard,to try to make ends meet
we met up with a man known as mister big
When he heard our sound he bout flipped his wig
He said you boys gotta lotta spunk
I just wanna know if you can Rock the funk
So we played him a tune, with alotta funk
Cause we sure were tired of livin out of a trunk
He pulled me aside and he gave me a hug
and said a band like this could really pack my club
This band is funky you understand
I could even make y'all my regular house band
Yeah!Rock the funk 4 times
So to make a long story short we took him up on his
offer, and got the band ready for the
World of funk club that saturday night...
Get up shake that thang~Get up and shake that thang
Get up shake that thang~Shoot out bang bang bang
We had the crowd eatin out of our hand
cause we Rocked the funk like no other band
We don't do no jazz like Thelonious Monk
but one thang fo sho we can Rock the funk
Rock the funk 4 times~lead guitars***
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah we packed the house on opening
night, cause the crowd was loose and the band was
tight..We don't do no jazz like Thelonious Monk
but one thang fo sho we can Rock the funk
*Lead guitars into ending* the end!

Hi there! This is the first song I listened to on DMusic recently and I have to say WOW! This is one funky song with awesome everything. It reminds me of some the tracks from the seventies that I hear at John and Peters in New Hope in between acts. Nice job Gene! Ahh, it's so nice to be able to listen again.

The title does a pretty good job of adhering to the truth in advertising principle. If anything, there's precious little rockification going on here; this sounds for all the world like a pre-Mothership Connection George Clinton project, that era when his stable of collaborators fell together into...and out of...loose-knit combos. There’s that same spirit, that energy. ‘S got that STANK!

well, you sure as hell ain't not meaning this.
kind of a captain beefheart tinge in the voice, maybe it's the little laughs, or the way the voice just drifts off in the funky madness at times.
I like the samples, framed things up well.
