Hiya all you wonderful DMersWavinghere's
another collab for ya! Mick and I wrote
the lyrics for this in one evening during
Mick & Noras 2 day visit, thanx for driving in from IllinoisHugHug Ed is a friend from Arkansas and he's responsible for arranging all the instruments on this funky piece of music
including his fantastic lead guitar work. We hope everyone enjoys!
here's the lyrics...Btw/I'm responsible
for all vocals...

Gimme back my Mojo by farfor44 & Mick_Reeves

When I was a young boy there was nothing I wouldn't do
I met this older woman who taught me a thing or two
She hung me out to dry and she put me on the rack
She took away my mojo and she will not give it back

Gimme back my mojo,I need it right away
Ooooo something is missing Ooo I feel empty inside

I called my local law enforcement they said that I should sue
So I went to see my lawyer and I met this old gumshoe
He looked at me with eyes of green,he said tell what Im gonna do
Gimme 2000 green backs, and I'll get it back for you

Ooo something is missing,Oooo I feel empty inside

Not one word from the private eye and I'm left out in the dark
If things don't take a different turn I'll be sleeping in the park
I lost my job,the rent is due,and the car is in the pound
I don't know what im gonna do if my mojo isn't found

Oooo something is missing,Ooo I feel empty inside

Looks like I've lost my mojo and a big chunk of my pride
An older woman and a private eye have taken me for a ride
The moral of the story as far as I can see
Never trust a private eye,and let the older women be..Big Grin

This is very, very well performed and produced. Great musicianship throughout, but the guitar solo at 2.15 is a definate highlight. The horns are the icing on the cake for me - they're great!

A cool loose funk blues thang complete with a bobbing bass, good vocals, horn stabs (where would we be without those?) and a great soaring guitar to top it all off. Most enjoyable.

Damn.....this reminds me so much of this local Dallas band that I used to go check out regularly.
I love your vocal stylization and the harmonies are fantastic.
The whole production is great. The horns...the guitar....the bass....the drums....all the different parts are complimenting each other quite funk-ily...

Excellent job, man!!!!

Laughing My Arse Off Git DOWN, guys! I love the funky blues feel of this, and you just have to KNOW the lyrics are to die for! Being partial to bass, I really think it's outstanding, but there isn't one part of this that doesn't just shine. Groovin Gene, your vocals are perfect... Cloud 9 Definitely a keeper. Groovin Its cool when artists get together for real. Only had the pleasure like 2X but no jamming was involved either time. Bummer.
Anyway I hear trademark stuff in here vocals and guitar. I really like the horn work in this one too. Cool. Sun

I literally can't remember the last time that I heard Soul this slick.
O.k., now, I know that I've never presented myself as a huge fan of slickness. As a matter of fact, I'm sure I've used the term in reviews as a mild pejorative. But we’re talking Soul here, and Soul is called Soul as an indicator of how much of themselves people put into it. THAT’S what I’m hearing here. And Funk, as in, shake it ‘til it sweat, then shake it some mo’. Sssssoul with STANK! Yeah boy!
Before sitting down to type out an objective review, it didn’t occur to me just how close this tune could’ve come to sounding contrived. And, frankly, I don’t know what it is, exactly, that makes me so certain the polish, the perfect Motown/Stax soup of Chicago Blues guitar leads, Philly horns, jumpin’ Gospel-flavored keys...that you folks came about it all honestly. I doubt there’s anything tangible, quantifiable, which could explain it. But I know it when I hear it.

Hi. I listened to the ...mojo.. song.
I really tell you I rocked and rocked, very rhytmic and funky and jazzy with them brass things, cool guitar work, makes me tremble at the thought that I also called myself a guitarist here, never mind, I really had fun listening to this music that to me sounds like the epitome of some the Americana music.
(and that from a Pandaredski from Poland)
hope to listen more of yours in the future.
